What happens?

It takes me to the Plex sign in page

And what happens, when you Sign In there with your plex.tv credentials?

I have the same issue. I installed to newest Plex Media Server on my new Windows 10 PC and it won’t launch. I’ve also tried several times. I am trying the above “update” and will let you know.

It takes me to a page which is NOT my plex account and has an incorrect email address. What is this, a phishing scam?

Where did you get the PMS download from? Was it from this website?

Please take a screenshot.

No. I’ve requested to cancel plex instead as the basic function doesn’t work and there isn’t any real support.
I’m not giving a random person in a forum any more info. I shouldn’t have even clicked the above link. Time to scan my computer for malware.

I have no faith in a company that REFUSES to provide direct, private support to paying customers.

Jesus, you can see from the FAQs that there is no direct support - product support is via the forum. Only billing questions are handled directly via email. Buying a Plex Pass gives you no more support access than anyone else.

Hey kegobeer-plex , having the exact same problem, except when I try to access http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/ it says This site can’t be reached 127.0.0.1 refused to connect. (on both Chrome and Firefox)

Also when I try to start Plex media server, the little icon appears in the taskbar, but when you mouse over it, it dissapears.

would love some help on this as it’s driving me crazy…

@Sparkz76
The disappearing icon is a sign the server is crashing. Crash logs should be automatically uploaded to Plex. You can check and see if one exists, but you must look before restarting the server, as it can get purged upon restart. If you can find the crash dump, zip it up and attach that file along with the Plex Media Server.log files (zipped). If you don’t find the dump, you should still zip up the server logs and attach.

Thanks mate, I can only find the Plex.log file (There is no “Plex Media Server” file location in my appdata folder) - I’ll find anything Plex related and zip it all… hopefully I’ve caught the right file? - ah great… I can’t attach a file. None of the little icons above actually do anything! In both Chrome and Firefox :frowning:

The button bar isn’t working for you. Doesn’t work for me either :frowning: You can upload the logs to dropbox or similar and provide a link to the file in your next post.

Ok, here goes, hopefully it contains some useful info  - Dropbox - File Deleted

has there been a fix for this? because as of Saturday, mine has been doing this also.

I’m having the same issue after a Windows update. Plex process immediately crashes after starting Plex media server.

Same here. I’m guessing Microsoft did something stupid with the latest insider preview build and that broke Plex. Unfortunately, Windows is refusing to let me roll back to a previous build and I don’t want to have to reinstall all of my software again; so I’m pretty much hosed until an update for Plex is pushed.

Alright, I’ve discovered a solution.

Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > View Installed Updates

Find whatever was the most recently installed under “Microsoft Windows,” and click “Uninstall.” This fixed the problem for me.

It goes without saying, MAKE BACKUPS FIRST.

All my windows updates were done on the same day as it was a new install… so I would have to go through ans systematically uninstall over 50 updates to figure out which one is causing the issue. The issue really is that Plex hasn’t been updated to coincide with the latest Windows 10 updates.
