Why y need to transcode if y sync using original?

I just bought PlexPass for sync with my tablet, and just found this (I think I’m going to ask for my money back) can someone please explain why?

I always choose direct play, and in this case I test it, and work, so why I need to convert/transcode?

original in the quality menu means original quality, not original file
