I dont see this as supported device. Before I get Plex Pass I want to confirm my cable card tuner will be compatible with teh new DVR and Live TV features on my Windows Media Center PC and the WinTV HVR-2250
Do you plan to support the WinTV HVR-2250 PCI cards? And when do you think that will happen?
Support for this card would be appreciated. I am sure a lot of us have it.
Currently driving my with Argus TV which does run within Kodi for a live display.
Would be nice to have it all in one application.
I don’t care if the HVR-2250 is supported or not… What I want to know is if it’s working…
supported and working devices are two different things!!!

Well here we go. Npvr on main htpc. Works so so. Transcode to Roku clients from .ts recorded format. Htpc uses npvr for viewing and file management. Wish to have one software solution that integrates accross all platforms. Willing to pay for integration. Htpc has the wintv hvr 2250 (8851). High dollar pciex card which functions well with npvr. Seems Plex even with my year Plex Pass not working… ideas, info? Roku clients work well. Htpc and one solution is what I want! Thanx!
Interesting to me that the support page referenced above states “USB/PCIe tuners require Plex Media Server v1.7.2 or newer” under Notes. Yet none of the models listed are PCIe… so I’m holding out hope.
I have a 2255 and Plex Pass. I plan to give it a shot in my server this weekend. I’ll post back with results!
Both tuner inputs from great outdoor HDTV antannae. Pricey too. Cable TV cut off years ago. Hope I did not waset 40 bucks on the Plex Pass. 9 days to re my Schedules Direct access for Npvr…
Thanx kernsb… the Roku interface and server decoding is awesome as it is now with npvr. Think issues I have is inconsistent with comskip. 8 core cpu with 16 gb of memory plenty of power…
Win10, automatic updates off. Do not use htpc for Web browsing…

I too have the HVR-2250 (I have 2 of these) I would really like to try this feature… I am using a combo of Kodi and SageTV which have been working great for like 8 years now…( or more…) But I also have plex for mobile clients and one of my TV’s. Also I have plex running in a docker in UNRAID is there support for PVR cards in that environment?
I do wish that Plex had actual support. Maybe they do not follow this thread?
In the DVR forums they mentioned support for it is coming. Just not yet, so be patient. Apparently it is a popular card.

got a 2250 here in my main rig just waiting on support for it too, have an xbox one tuner hooked to an extra pc, and when it works it works nice, I’m waiting to see if it can detect it has already recorded an episode of a tv show and not make a duplicate file, unfortunately my little spare pc doesn’t have the power to compress the file on the fly so I didn’t even bother checking that setting, SD recording 1hr = 1.7 GB uncompressed but nice clear quality, upscaling to 1080p is excellent unlike internal RCA ports on an HDTV
I too have an HVR-2250 and have been looking for MCE alternatives since W10 launch. I only post here because if someone IS monitoring these forums I say to them this: I LIKE YOUR FREE SERVICE. I WILL KEEP USING IT. IF YOU START SUPPORTING THE AFOREMENTIONED PCI CARDS, I WILL UPGRADE TO YOUR PAID SERVICE… FOR A LONG TIME.
