Will static IP get around cgnat?

Have just changed internet provider but being struggling getting plex to pick up my server and have being trying to figure out whats going on.

Have gone through my ipv4 and have noticed they are different so called my isp who informed me they use cgnat but can offer a static ip which I can then open ports up from.

Will this actually get around the issue or is it worth not going ahead and to stick with my old provider who didnt use cgnat?

It should. An ISP provided static IP is also Plex’s recommendation for people behind CGNAT:

  • If you are behind Carrier Grade NAT service, then you would need to check if your ISP has an option for you to use (or purchase) a static Public IP address which would bypass CGNAT.

Oh you literally found what I have being trying to find out :man_facepalming:
