Windows Plexamp App - Minimise to notification area

[Feature Request] Add Option to Minimize Plexamp for Windows to the System Tray

Feature Request

I would like to request a setting in Plexamp for Windows that allows the application to minimize to the system tray (notification area) instead of staying visible on the taskbar.

Details & Context

Currently, when Plexamp is minimized, it remains on the taskbar, which can be inconvenient—especially for those of us who keep it running in the background most of the day. Other music players and streaming apps typically offer an option to minimize to tray, and having this feature in Plexamp would make it feel more seamless and unobtrusive.

How I Manage Now / Workarounds

At the moment, the only workaround is to rely on third-party utilities that force applications to minimize to the tray. These solutions are clunky, inconsistent, and add unnecessary complexity. Having native support for this in Plexamp would make for a much smoother experience.

Why It Matters

  • Frees up valuable taskbar space, especially for users who don’t use taskbar grouping.
  • Makes Plexamp more consistent with other desktop music players.
  • Keeps the app “out of sight” while still allowing for quick access and background playback.

Suggested Implementation

A simple toggle in Plexamp’s Windows settings:

  • When enabled → minimizing sends the app to the tray (hidden from taskbar).
  • Clicking the tray icon restores the app window.
  • Optional right-click tray menu for quick actions (play/pause, skip, etc.) would be even more useful.
