Write a new Plex Player?

I'm needing a Plex Player for Boxee (as a lot of people do) and downloaded the only attempt I could find at writing one. It's now hosted at https://github.com/grantmcwilliams/PlexforBoxee. 

 

But since I know nothing of Plex Players and it seems most of the development documentation is aimed at making plugins for the server is there any docs that focus on the Player? Is the code for the Player open source or not?

 

Any ideas on how to create a Plex Player?
