Guys the app hasn’t been updated is over a year. It’s not going to get one to fix this. Let it go.

If the team are not going to support the app then they should pull the app from the store and stop advertising their paid product as supported by Xbox360: https://www.plex.tv/apps/tvs-consoles/xbox-360/

There’s literally over 20 clients. Priorities change. Are you really surprised? Maybe you should buy an Xbox One?

Plex chooses to advertise support that is not really there.

The fact that plex is also supported on other clients is not all that relevant.

If I buy RAM from qualified vendor list it should work, right? And if it didn’t, I would have grounds for a complaint and refund.

The plex app on Xbox 360 does not work as advertised. As a consumer, I have no obligation to understand the technical/manpower challenges involved in maintaining the product, I can simple expect an adherence to truth in advertising.

I won’t bother petitioning the Dev. team, I’ll just make a complaint to the FTC.

ahahahahhahahah I’m sure the FTC will have a good laugh. Just because they advertise something as existing, doesn’t mean it has to work. You could just buy a Raspberry Pi for under £50 and you’d have the best and cheapest client instead of clinging to a 10 year old console. It’s surprising there was one to begin with. Who doesn’t have a computer, tablet, phone these days? There are a million and one options for a Plex viewer and the fact you choose to stick with this when people have been complaining for literally years (seeing as last update was August 2015) and the cries have gone unanswered shows that you’re just stubborn to move on.

Of course it should work. You’ve stated the very definition of misleading or deceptive advertising.

Rasp pi is the absolute worst client I have ever seen.

What will a phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop do to help me in the lounge room on my TV?

I’m supposed to setup a device everytime anyone wants to watch a show?

Chromecast? It’s garbage.

I don’t want to build a Htpc, I have a functional Xbox.

All that is shown here is your willingness to engage in needless consumerism. I have a perfectly functional Xbox, totally capable of HD playback. Why would I want to waste money on yet another device?

84million Xbox 360 sold, so dead that Microsoft has gone out of their way to engineer backwards compatibility into the X1.

I’m all for discussion, but you don’t even make sense. Your making out like it’s my fault for owning an Xbox, when really all I want is what is advertised.

And as far as stubborn, it’s a new issue to me, I’ve not really had problems with the Xbox before. As I don’t make a habit of browsing the plex forums to check the support status of my devices, I think I quite justified in posting now.

Ftc, yeah, a bit laughable, but on principle the plex “team” is in the wrong.

That might be true but it’s clearly not going to so you are basically forced to move on…

Rasp pi is the absolute worst client I have ever seen.

Thanks for the chuckle. That’s hilariously inaccurate. It’s a small computer that can playback full bluray rips with zero issues (besides the lack of bitstreaming) using multiple different operating systems, LibreELEC with Plex for Kodi Addon, PMP Embedded, OpenPHT Embedded… it’s an excellent client. How is it the worst when it’s arguably the most versatile?

What will a phone, laptop, tablet, or desktop do to help me in the lounge room on my TV?

What will a broken 360 do besides cause you annoyance?

I’m supposed to setup a device everytime anyone wants to watch a show?

No, you leave the Pi on 24/7, it’s a low power draw device…

Chromecast? It’s garbage.

I agree.

I don’t want to build a Htpc, I have a functional Xbox.

Who said you have to do that? You don’t have a functional Plex client though… do you?

No it’s called being realistic. I have multiple devices in my household that work. I don’t put all my eggs in one basket.

84million Xbox 360 sold, so dead that Microsoft has gone out of their way to engineer backwards compatibility into the X1.

With all due respect, that’s nothing to do with Plex on Xbox. That’s about preserving video-games that you might still have discs / digital purchases of. It’s great! Still not related to Plex.

I’m all for discussion, but you don’t even make sense. Your making out like it’s my fault for owning an Xbox, when really all I want is what is advertised.

I never said it was your fault for owning an Xbox or using the Plex client on 360. I said it was your fault for being too stubborn to change when it’s clear Plex have given up on the 360 client.

And as far as stubborn, it’s a new issue to me, I’ve not really had problems with the Xbox before. As I don’t make a habit of browsing the plex forums to check the support status of my devices, I think I quite justified in posting now.

It might be new but there have been issues with it for over a year now with no resolutions.

Ftc, yeah, a bit laughable, but on principle the plex “team” is in the wrong.

Principle of what exactly? It’s their application, ecosystem and direction. They are free to dedicate resources to clients as they see fit. I had to wait over a year for a functional non stuttering Nvidia SHIELD TV client. Priorities change and directions shift. That’s how business works.

I’ve only seen it setup once, and the interface was unbearably slow to respond (imho). Far and away the worst performing client I have ever seen. Come to think of it, I think it was actually a banana pi 2, not raspi. Still, I have an old Minix android box that performed better, although it was also not all that great (for different reasons).

I doubt I would ever go a rasplex route. The upcoming nvidia shield tv (2) might be worth looking it. I dunno, it’s just annoying.

That’s not even close to being the same device. Raspberry Pi 3 works fantastically and is not slow at all.

I think we are all getting bit off topic. The reality is that there appears to be some issues with the 360 client that are causing these problems. I am also seeing the final season of many shows not appearing (thought, as others have said, they DO show up in the “all episodes” list). Further, I am also seeing the show’s poster art being applied to every season even though these are individually allocated on the server side. Anybody heard of any fixes for these issues?

This isn’t a fix but a workaround so you can see all seasons of shows on Plex in the XBox360 app, and if Plex has abandon that app this is about the best anyone can hope for:

  1. Go into your TV series and create a new folder for a season AFTER the last. So for example, Stargate SG-1 had a total of 10 Season. I create a folder called Season 11 in that directory.

  2. Create or download a dummy file. I just grabbed a 1MB MP4 file from
    sample-videos.com

  3. Name the dummy file something to indicate it as such and place in the folder created in step #1. Again for Stargate SG-1, I named the file Stargate SG-1 - s11e00 - Placeholder.mp4 and placed it in the Season 11 directory.

  4. Update your library.

On some devices you now will have a dummy season and a placeholder video but for me anyways, that’s a minor inconvenience for being able to see all seasons on the XBox360.

I have the exact same issue happen to me as well. The only solution I could find was to reinstall Plex media server 1.0.3.2461 and below.
