This has been going on for several weeks. I think that the player has been updated a few times since this started, but I haven’t been keeping close track.
When skipping back or forward (but particularly backward), the player frequently locks up. It stops responding in any way to input, playback freezes, as does the UI. I haven’t seen the player crashing to desktop or restarting itself, I have to force quit and restart manually.
I mostly skip -10/+30s, but sometimes see the same problem when skipping +/-10m.
The lock sometimes happens when I skip back once, sometimes only after I skip back a few times in quick succession. I am seeing this with .ts files recorded using my HD Homerun Connect and with .mkv/.mp4 files as well.
I have sometimes had .srt subtitles turned on, but more commonly not.
I wonder if this is the same issue I’m having with the client just stopping at the end of videos? The player just stops and won’t take any commands and it never returns to the home screen. Have to force quit the application and restart it. Then I’m good for another hour or so and it happens again. This definitely was not happening with the client from two versions back.
Does anybody know how to load an older previous version on Xbox One? I’d like to roll-back until this issue is sorted out.
I don’t typically let a video run to the end, I’ve either skipped to the next or returned to the menu before then, so I can’t say whether I’m getting the same problem as you, but it certainly sounds similar (I’ve added a note into your topic).
On my machine, the lock-ups can happen at any time. I’ve had plenty of cases where I’ve quit and restarted Plex only for it to lock up in exactly the same manner the first time I rewind. I’ve never had it lock up spontaneously, only in response to my FF/RW instructions.
I think I’ve seen the crash in the middle of a video while trying to rewind as well. Try and seek in the video,then it just goes black, then no further commands seem to work. Only force quit works to correct.
Seriously, the client was stable and the most functional of any of the clients until about two months ago. This new client is awful and I’m sure I’m not the only people wishing Plex would just go back to the code from before the big changes. Clearly, the rewrite is a total mess.
I’ve now had a spontaneous lock, at least a minute since my last interaction (taking the playback off of pause). It’s still locking when I skip, as well.
