Hi I have a school and we use flex to deliver resource content to interactive TV’s in classrooms. One of the plex players has a particular problem : up to last week it played Audio and Video perfectly. Since Monday it plays video with perfect sound, but won’t play any audio. When I click on the play button nothing happens. I’ve updated everything I can think of : youtube plays fine, google plays sound files – just flex don’t play any mp3 files.
I have the EXACT same problem. We have Plex in our house on 5 PCs using the Windows App from the store. None of them will play any MP3s but they all play video just fine. If you press the play button nothing happens. If however we try and play MP3s via the Web App -OR- Android App they play just fine.

Stopped working for me as well. Can’t play mp3 or Flac files. But only on the same machine the server is running on!
It works fine on my Surface Pro 3.
Both are Anniversary 10 and are the same builds of the app:

I´ve been struggling with this for the last two days. No audio for my music library. Films fine, series fine, but no music at all. Always blaming on the server I tried several things on it and nothing worked out.
Just thinking about asking for a refund (lifetime pass) and I had a thought: “I´ve only tried on the Windows app. What about the other platforms?”
I checked it on web; everything ok, even music
Apple TV; everything ok, even music.
Sony Smart tv (Android); everything ok, even music
Ipad; everything ok, even music.
Android phone; everything ok, even music
on the other hand:
win10 mobile; everything ok, but no music
win10 Pc; everything ok, but no music
win10 tablet; everything ok, but no music
Conclussion: Plex Win10 app doesn´t play music. It would be absolutely great if Plex took care of it. It´s simply embarrasing…
Can someone post a complete log with an explanation of what is demonstrated by the log? As I’m sure you can understand, it’s almost impossible to determine the root cause of an issue without an app log.
@msoliverva: Is 192.168.0.4 the local IP address of your PMS? If so, you might try removing the authorization for the Plex for Windows app on your server (on Plex Web app, Settings/Devices/Windows), and then sign in again on the app.
Yes, 192.168.0.4 is my local IP of my PMS - I’m running Win 10 latest public release, running Win 10 app least release (prior releases I had no problem. My media library loads fine but as soon as I try to play a track, Win 10 app does nothing. See attached for complete log files. I tried removing the device and signing in again. No luck. Thanks for your assistance:
Latest .222 Win10 build and latest 3.0.78 app build here too.
Same result, I can browse the library no problem, but pressing play on either album or track does nothing.

@msoliverva yeah, the logs for the background music player confirm the issue is a 401 error (unauthorized). Please try to follow my earlier recommendation. Let me know if you have any doubts.

@pombeirp I did that earlier. I went to PWS, removed all Windows Devices, uninstalled the Win App, then re-downloaded and re-installed the app from the Windows Store and launched. Signed in and tried to play a track and sent the logs to you…
I even tried out the program that the app links to in order to diagnose any loopback issues:
and saw that the Plex App was enabled for loopback
It doesn’t seem like the current Win 10 app can authenticate to the PWS if they are both running on the same computer. I have no problems connecting to PWS and playing music from other devices…
