Music not playing on Plex Windows App

Hi,

I have been trying to listen to music on my desktop but can’t get it to work. I’m connected to the server and can play movies and look at pictures fine. The music all shows up and all the artwork is there but when i press play it just remains at 0.00 and does not play.

I can play music just fine through my phone, Roku and PS4. I can even play it through the webplayer on the same computer i’m having issues with, just not the app.

I have enabled logging and tried again so hopefully someone will be able to help.

I’m having the same issue with the windows app.Everything else will play fine (music videos, tv shows, movies, ect). Only started happening recently

I’m also having this issue. Can play music from the same server fine from Browser, Android App, Xbox One App. I think it started when the app auto updated to version 3.0.78.0.

I’m having this issue as well. I cannot comment on the movies or TV shows side of things as I am only currently using my local server (laptop) for music while I am at work. Although, I can see all the content (art, track listings, etc.). I can play the local content through the web player, Plex Home Theater and Plex Media Player (preview). I can connect to my home server and play my music files over the internet. Also noticed that if Wi-Fi is off, it will not see the local server at all.

I have tried the solution in the forums that requires you to execute the following command in an elevated command prompt:

checknetisolation.exe LoopbackExempt -a -n=caf9e577.plex_aam28m9va5cke

This did not work.

I also tried the following utility as suggested to do the same as above:

fiddler2.com/dl/EnableLoopbackUtility.exe

This showed that the loopback was enabled for Plex. But, still no joy.

I have also update the server to the latest version (Plex Media Server v1.2.2.2857-d34b464), but that did not help either.

Just installed Plex (Windows app) on my home computer (has my main Plex server installed). The same thing occurs. It will play movies and TV shows from the local home server, but not music. Must be a bug. Hopefully it will get sorted soon.

Same problem here. I have uninstalled/reinstalled both Server and app but did not fix the problem. All other media plays fine except music. Music will play however on other Android devices, just not windows 10 pc.

Music plays fine on other Apps (Android App, Plex Media Player Preview etc.), just not playing through the Windows Store App.

The Devs don’t seem to have made this a priority. Or at least they are not informing us of the progress addressing this issue.

I am having almost the same problem but for me it still works on the same Network. At least sort of. It requiers a restart of the phone

I am having a similar issue. I often need to restart the Plex app or try 10-20 times to start a song before it plays. Some days it doesn’t play at all. Sometimes, I start a movie and then I can start listening to music.

This happens both with synced and streamed music. It is sad that I have to play my synced music with Windows Groove Music from the Plex Library folder on my Windows 10 laptop when I’m on the road because plex cannot play the music.

I know this is a 2 years old topic, but there’s so many different topic with the same issue, I would assume it doesn’t matter which one I reply to, I just hope that they will improve their music app at one point.

I would suggest using an app that has been receiving updates. The last updates for the Windows Store app was over a year ago.

Other options could be:
Plex Web
Plex Amp (music specific player)
Plex Media Player

Any updates regarding this? I have to revert to the web player on my home PC because of this issue.

Per the post above from last March, you should use a different player. If you are already using a different player, please start a new thread indicating which player and version you’re using and which version of PMS you have installed.
