OH NOEZ!1!!!11 THE SKY IS FALLING!111!You people have that tinfoil wrapped WAY too tight around your heads. NOTHING that they are collecting is personally identifiable, and it is ALL NECESSARY for the system to work. It was ALL being sent whether you opted in or not before. Otherwise how else would the system know which devices are connected to your server. How would the system know what length the movie is or the bitrate it is playing at or the codec it is using? How would it know if you are a Plex Pass sub or not? Not everything is a f’ing conspiracy.
- Your statement regarding nothing identifiable only shows that you have not read the privacy policy and or are unfamiliar with the proposed data being collected.
- Having worked for private investigators I can tell ya that having the ability to opt out may prevent a company spending the money and resources on a legal inquiry. Knowing that the data is collected assures them that any monies spent in this endeavor will generate results.
- Only you mention a conspiracy, those knowledgeable on how the world operates know these are standard business and legal practices. Plex is now opening the door to these practices that were not there before.
Lack of knowledge is a dangerous thing; good thing your in good company on the internet! ![]()
