Plex for Windows requesting HEVC even though it's not capable of decoding it

I have a friend with an old laptop (Lenovo T430, Ivy Bridge, i5-3000 something) that absolutely does not have HEVC HW decoding capabilities. It has to software decode, and struggles to do so. How can we make his player force-request a H.264 transcode?

I had to disable HEVC→HEVC transcoding in the server settings temporarily just for him, but that’s not a proper solution.

With a machine like that you are better off using the web app.
