Worked fine for year’s until now it randomely throws transcoder failed exited and then it works when i play a second time sometimes I need to play play 6 times then it works for an entire episode or 15 min
No matter the media and ironically the intro of a Futurama episode said this episode will self destruct in 3 2 1 and then transcoder failed.
I tried disabling the transcoder it didn’t help and since I made no changes i assume it’s not a problem on my side my surface pro has plenty of space left so nothing can be causing this.
Welcome to the Plex forum.
You need to provide some additional details regarding your setup and the problem.
Please see Reporting issues with Plex Media Server.
I use a surface pro with a samsung s95f tv Not sure what else I can say
Server is installed on…?
Version of server?
Version of app on Surface Pro and Samsung s95f TV?
Type of media? Source of media (download, vs self-ripped)?
Has it worked with that EXACT media in the past, but isn’t now?
Remote access, or local?
Does it happen to ALL media, or just one file?
Does it happen on all clients?
Have you tried watching the media via a third client, the web portal at watch.plex.tv?
Everything fully updated
Same happens with all new media I use which is downloaded episodes in 1080p
Local access
That is… interesting. Well, the next step would probably be to collect and post the server logs here to see if the server posts WHY this happens. I do not know how to read them, but there is usually someone that can that will come along and be able to interpret them.
Make sure to restart the server, wait a few minutes, then attempt to watch something. When/if it fails, immediately collect logs. Oh, and make sure “Verbose” logs is NOT ENABLED.
Despite you saying everything is up to date, please provide the server version number (and the computer OS or platform it is installed on).
Edit: I wonder if it might be a database issue. It wouldn’t hurt to “Optimize Database” in the “Troubleshooting” section of Plex settings. You can also view the “Console” to see if any scary red "Error"s pop up when this issue happens.
I did a full windows reset and it seems to have solved it I’m not sure what was causing this
