Hey guys,
Having an issue where audio will ‘disconnect’ for a few seconds and then reconnect when playing movies, watching shows, etc.
Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?

i have a feeling it was because i was using video sync, just changed it to audio… will see what happens.
Any further news on this?
Regards
Ned,
So… I’m still experiencing an issue from time to time but far less frequently. Any thoughts?
Suggest setting everything back to defaults and see if that fixes it.
Regards
ned, i’ll give it a shot. hate a default reset but it won’t hurt anything… truly.

Rasplex 0.7.1 has just been released.

Was playing with IoT, running .7.1 now but haven’t done a reset. Results to come…
Are you playing through a receiver by chance? I found threads in the OpenElec forums after having the same thing (random audio drops) when using my Onkyo when telling RasPlex to “Match Video” refresh rate.
The config.txt for the Pi needs the following command added:
hdmi_clock_change_limit=40
My RasPlex is set to “Match Video” on Start/Stop, and Sync Playback is set to off. Sync Playback is apparently not recommended when doing Audio Passthrough.
With the config.txt edit, and those two settings things are as solid as ever.
i am, pi -> onkyo -> tv
i currently have audio sync enabled. seems to be better but there is a random drop here and there.
i’ll check those settings. by chance have sauce on the sync playback and the edit notes?

Did you set everything back to defaults as suggested before changing any othe Advanced video settings?

i haven’t yet… i had a long few weeks at work and was playing with IoT

The forum link in my post is the source for the config.txt change. The Sync Playback you can read about here.
If you alter the video but pass through the audio to your receiver, they will be out of sync. That option only works right when all the signal processing is done together.
FWIW, my TV and Projector support all video refresh rates, so I don’t need the Pi to alter the video rates at all. I leave Sync Playback off as I want it all to run as native as possible. Alternatively you can turn off “Match Video” entirely like Ned recommended in his troubleshooting.
From what I’ve read in my research of the issue, Onkyo receivers are sensitive to HDMI clock timings, so they start dropping packets and force renegotiation which causes the behavior your seeing.
Hey guys,
I did end up buying a NUC that I’m playing with as well. I have my PI still but am fiddling with a few things.
So… I did do a reset and it seemed to resolve the issue. However, my pi is currently disconnected as I work on other projects.
Thanks
