Optimal Video Settings & 1080p/dts Stutter

I'm in the process of wrapping up a fairly large rebuilding of my media and home theater setups.  This involved rebuilding and consolidating VM's, migrating to plex from XBMC/SQL and ultimately finally getting my in-wall HT speakers installed and configured.

As part of the plex migration, I sold off/repurposed my dedicated HTPC boxes (an i3 and dualie celeron) and purchased 3x RPi2's.  I installed the latest version of Rasplex (as of this posting 0.6.0) and have been thrilled with the results... and the WAF has been through the roof.

The only issue's I'm running into are trying to get some good info on the optimal video settings (which through many days of google-fu, I think I've found), and the occasional pause/stutter when watching 1080p/dts content.  I'll post my config (at least the relevent parts) and hope that somebody can chime in.  I'll also continue to tweak and see if I can come up with the fix... if I do I'll post my settings and the reason for them.  Hopefully that will help somebody else :)

AV
Pi2 -- HDMI -- Marantz SR5008 -- HDMI -- Samsung F6400

Network
Pi2 -- Cat6 -- 8-Port Gigabit Switch -- Cat6 -- 24-Port Switch -- Cat6 -- Plex VM

Video Settings
Adjust Display Refresh Rate to Match Video - Enabled (Start/Stop)
Sync Playback to Display - Enabled
A/V Sync Method - Video Clock (Resample Audio)
Vertical Blanc Sync - Enabled During Video Playback
Cache - 15%

If I can provide any other information, please just let me know.

In my opinion for trouble free playback its best to leave all the video settings at default, have you tried that with your media that's having problems?

I have not, as it usually will only happen once (maybe twice) during a 2 hour movie, and it will happen at a random time... which makes trying to see if the issue is resolved difficult.

I will say though that the picture quality has improved dramitically since turning on "Adjust Framerate to Match Video", since most of my videos are 24p.

I'm wondering if the stumbling block is maybe the "A/V Sync Method", though I imagine that it would be CPU intensive... though I'm not seeing any significant CPU load...

So I *think* I've solved the issue, and hopeufully this helps someone else.  I've only had a chance to watch one move since I did this, but I had no playback issue's.

In any case, I had to disable both FFMPEG AVIO transport (which looks like it's being remove from Plex anyways - [source](https://forums.plex.tv/topic/109914-ffmpeg-avio-transport-pht-110/#entry930295) and disable "Sync Playback to Display".

The con to this is that rewind no longer works well (which apparently is to be expected) and arguably I have the possibility of having sync issues (though I have not seen any).

Hope this helps.

FFMPEG AVIO is not being removed from Rasplex, it is required for backwards compatibility with RPi1 for playback.

There are known issues in 0.6.0, these have been fixed for the next release.  use of FFMPEG AVIO is recommended as it uses a better caching method.
