Black screens and dropout of video/audio

Hey all.

Been having mixed success running RasPlex on my Raspberry Pi 2.

Certain files I’m able to play fine, others I’m having “video dropouts”. The screen will go black, the audio also stops, then a second or two later it will resume. It may play fine for a few more seconds, then it will go black again.

Once it starts, it tends to continue to become more and more glitchy.

With each update to RasPlex I’ve been hoping the issue would remedy itself, but sadly as of updating today to 0.7.0 it hasn’t!

I would much prefer to use the Pi 2 on my main TV thanks to the Direct Play functionality (using the PS4 as an alternative due to frustration!).

So far I’ve tried -

Different cable to power the Pi
Different wall plug
Different HDMI
Latest updates of RasPlex
Fresh install on a different memory card

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I’ll try and post a video if it’s any help!

Thanking you in advance,

Spudgun

Sounds like a HDMI cable issue, it’s losing sync.

I’ve tried a different HDMI cable already; I’ll try a third one though…

It’s not the Pi itself do you think? Or RasPlex? Guessing no one else has these issues… (unfortunately I don’t know anyone else in person to ask if they’ve had similar experiences!)

Thanks for the response

You can check if it’s the RPi by loading up OpenELEC and see if you have the same issues.

It still only seems to be doing it whilst in RasPlex watching random videos… yet was able to watch a 1080p 2 hour long file just fine… (which had previously caused trouble!).
