[Feature Request] Selecting which channels to share with Individual Users

I would like to see the option to select which channels you want to share with other users when you’re going through your shared library settings.

For example, right now, If you go to users, and edit a user, you can select the “Restrictions” tab and click “Allow Channels”. Currently, it is a “blanket setting”, meaning you either share all of them, or none of them.

What I would like to see, is a list of installed channels drop down after checking “Allow Channels”, like it does when you deselect “All Libraries” on the tab above. This way, you can very easily give mature viewers or certain friends/family access to certain channels, and the kids access to others.

Like this post if you agree!

Thanks!

yes, i really want this. a have some channels that i use for my own. like the YouTubeTV channel, i don’t want to ruined my YT suggestions by my friends. or like the sub-zero channel, friends don’t need access the subtitle setup…

I agree as well. Even just adding a sharing label to the channels, like we already can with other media, would work as well.

Missed this in my feature post. Would love this.

Independent/Individual “Channels” Permissions. May be a better topic for this. I nearly missed this topic, while searching for this feature request. (shorter as well)

I honestly can’t believe I’ve had such difficulty in finding a topic dealing with this “issue”. I have many channels, however; I only wish for some users to have some channels, those chosen channels varying in permission to them.

As of now, as we know, it is “all or nothing.” It’s nice, that we -can- at least share them anymore (as that was not always the case, so I thank the developers for this at least), but the implementation of the above requested feature would lead to perfection.

This would be a great feature!

I would love this feature as well

add my vote +1

Requesting as well.

Please include

Wow, I missed this feature request and started a separate one (which I’ll delete). But the post in that one was:

A feature that I would like to see is the ability to create channel “Lists” or some other method to organize channels in such a way that can be applied to user permissions. This would allow both organizational functionality as well as access control (i.e. parental control).

My previous discussion is here: forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1465739#Comment_1465739

I need this feature too

YES! Please add a “share” section with “tags” for channels, just like the other libraries. Channels span the gamut form kid cartoons to porn, and some system utilities (such as Subzero) are set up as channels as well that only the admin needs to see.
Some way of managing them is sorely needed.

I agree - it would be extremely helpful to be able to give users access to channels much like we do with libraries. In addition, it would be great to be able to modify the sort order for channels (preferably ad-hoc) or to at least select some as “favorites” to be able to have them display before the others in the list.

Oops. Nevermind.

How difficult could it be to add this?

In a few months, this feature request will be 2 years old. Please, how hard can it be to add this?

For me, I just want to be able to share the Disney Plugin with the “kids” user account, but I don’t want them having access to any of my other plugins.

You’ve got VR now to keep you occupied while this feature is being implemented?

And only 34 likes? I do believe it’s the LIKES that get a feature request seen (not just the replies, including those of “+1!”)

Still time before 2 years come about!

So, the Plex Devs found time to prioritise relabelling from “Channels” to “Plugins”, which gives us nothing.
