Hello!
I currently use Windows Media Center, as that is the only user-friendly interface I’ve found that supports DVR from my integrated PCIe TV-tuner (DVB-T2). Is this something that will be possible with the new DVR-BETA, or am I out in the cold? I really like the Plex-interface, but this has been the barrier that prevents me from upgrading, as I want to be able to do everything within the same software. This is for Boxer in Sweden, if it matters…
Bump. I am definitely interested in PVR functionality. Current setup is Windows7 based HTPC with PCI-E Ceton 6 tuner card. I am on Fios, so I don’t need a tuning adapter. I would BUY the Plex Pass instantly if told Ceton would be supported (in dev is fine). And there will be live TV viewing. It would allow my to retire my W7 WMC install and just run Windows + Plex. I am really stoked for this. If any Plex dev’s are reading and need a Ceton tester, I would also pay for the Plex Pass and sign up. I just really don’t want to scrap my whole investment. (Side note the current Prime tuners would require 2 boxes vs. my single PCI-E Ceton card, 2 cable cards vs. my single one. Also, I have an Echo extender.)
Bump. Same question here. I have Hauppauge HVR 2250. I do have it working in Next PVR but would really like to gut the middle man out and go directly from Plex.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I read the section on the CURRENT supported tuners. Again personally, I was adding that there are 2 or 3 other very popular current tuner brands still in use. Since I cannot post or even view the “PASS” forums to say “hey the Prime tuners and DVR functionality is awesome but there are ‘OTHER’ popular tuners out there.” Now if Plex Dev decide to only develop for the Prime, I might consider when WMC stops getting guide data aka 2020. But my Ceton and Echo cost close to 500. Not going to scrap that if additional tuner brands will be in development. And if Plex only rocks with SiliconDust Primes…well the 2020 time timetable still applies…FOR ME. Not speaking for anyone that posted or bumped this.
I’d assume there would be a large influx of paying plex pass beta testers that would love to test with their current PCI / PCIe tuners. Surely a high number of Plex users have some kind of TV DVR system currently (whether it be MWC or MediaPortal etc) and don’t want to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on more tuners. Hopefully support for existing internal tuners is coming
I’ve got a crusty AverMedia HD card and I’m happy WMC can find it. Hoping it makes it to the list of supported devices would be wishful thinking on my part. I also won’t be upgrading any time soon due to the sticker-shock that washes over me when looking for a modern replacement.
I’m currently running a TBS6205 quad tuner on my Plex server and would love to be able to use it via Plex instead of the ugly hack I have to pull now. So excited for potential BDA device support.
I would also buy a lifetime pass if Ceton PCI-E tuners were supported. Fwiw going to try later today and see if it detects them or not. I hope they do. Thanks.
Same here, I just bought the Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD TV tuner, but for the time being I’ll use a workaround by simply having the software included with that record shows to a plex library. Would love to see full integration for PCIe tuners.
To Plex development team or prodcut manager; is support for ePCI DVB S2/T2 cards part of your roadmap? If so, by when is phase-in?
I love plex, but this is a feature I miss.
I use Windows Media Center (Windows 7) and a Ceton InfiniTV cable card tuner–which still works fine. If/when you add support for Ceton tuners, I’ll sign up for Plex Pass right away.
Unfortunately, I live on the wrong side of my building to get adequate OTA reception.
