DVR function for PCI-cards?

I’ve seen that some Hauppauge cards are now supported. Is the 2250 work? I know it’s not listed but how different from the other can it be software wise…

@“MovieFan.Plex” It would be great to have a “detection” page in the server settings, before going prenium, to see if tuners are detected.

Is there any documentation on configuring a tuner card for use with Plex live channels? If I go into DVR settings and start the setup it looks for network tuners… How do I get the live tv channels stuff working? There seem to be no guides or instructions.

Please take this detailed and technical question to the right subforum:

How about checking out our support article that lists the supported devices. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/225877427-Supported-DVR-Devices-and-Antennas

I had checked the supported tuners, and mine is an Avermedia AverTV Volar Hybrid, and hence why I was attempting to see if it would work. From the comment I would assume that I am doing things correctly, but only the exact models mentioned are working at all, and my previous generation USB tuner that doesn’t have the Q in the product name is not currently working.

I also agree that a simple detection routine would be nice, even though I have Plex Pass and can go to the DVR settings, it would appear that it is only looking for networked tuners. Maybe a message that says it can not find any compatible PCI/USB tuners to indicate to the user that it even tried?

MovieFan - That would be great if your list of tuners was accurate (several of us can’t get PLEX to see our WinTV QuadHDs). I signed up for Plex Pass because your article said it would work. So instead of being a Sm*&^ A*^&&, try to be helpful.

Has anyone gotten Plex to see a Hauppauge Quad PCi card yet?

Yes, but it shows up as two two-tuner cards instead of one.

Any tricks to it? Mine doesn’t see it at all. I set the update channel setting to Plex from Public as I saw someone list on another post. I’m currently using JRiver, so I know the card is visible.

Apparently, there are 2 versions of the WinTV QuadHD cards. Two different chips were used.
Right now, Plex only ‘knows’ about one of these chips. The other one is not recognised by the server version 1.7.2
The developers want to enable the other version of the card in a future server release.

Thanks for the update. I see that they have just removed the QuadHD from the list of supported devices.

Yes. The other version of the card will continue to work of course.
But it will only re-appear in the compatibility list, once both versions of the card are recognised.

For the record, in device manager, mine shows up as two line items:
Model 1651xx-1, Dual ATSC/QAM, IR
Model 1651xx-2, Dual ATSC/QAM

I’m confused by this tangled web of support for specific tuners. Why not just support all this at an API level allowing ANY bda tuners to work just like all the other mainstream dvr solutions out there.

It’s certainly must be a huge support overhead the way it is. I can only put it down to $ spinning partnerships here. But this limits and disadvantages many plex users. Not nice.

Another vote for the Ceton InfiniTV 6 and FWIW, I have a Lifetime Plex Pass subscription.

Sorry about that. I was trying to provide helpful information. As OttoKerner mentioned, we were unaware of this issue with the WinTV cards, so it was accurate based on our earlier knowledge, and which we’ve modified since.

PMS automatically searches for supported devices. This includes supported USB devices. I’ll pass along the idea to improve the message when a supported device cannot be found.

So… I’m in a similar / the same boat… In between the time that I ordered a WinTV-quad card (yesterday) and it’s arriving and being installed (today), I see that the card’s no longer listed as being supported.

The original page said, “WinTV-quadHD: This device will show up as two dual-tuner devices. You can simply add it as two devices to a single Plex DVR to make use of all four tuners.”

Is there a known issue with the quadHD card that’s being worked on, and should we expect that it will be supported (hopefully soon-ish)?

ETA: Just saw the comment above re: the chip set, which probably (hopefully?) answers my question: “The developers want to enable the other version of the card in a future server release.”

@“MovieFan.Plex” Some Copy paste mania here…

How about you read and UNDERSTAND comments before linking the article…

“Supported devices” is not the same as “Working devices”. I could be wrong here but from what I’ve red in the forums, some people got unlisted tuners working!

So unless only supported devices are allowed by Plex and all other devices are rejected every question about tuners are justified.

If you’re to be prompt or rude, please ignore my comment… I tough you were working for plex and was open to suggestions…

Good day!
I say good day!

Does anybody know is the WinTV-quadHD “version issue” derived from old vs new chipset, or is it factory 1 vs factory 2 chipset?
Because if i ordered a used one, should I cancel it, or i have a good chance that it will work?

Is the Happauge 950Q supported or will be?

Someone who has a working WinTV-quadHD, can you please check does it have 1607 or 1609 chipset?

thanks in advance
