How to move installation?

So I’ve had a PMS for several years, and some of the drives in the RAID where the media is stored are starting to fail. I have a new/more powerful workstation where I’d like to transfer my installation onto. The old system will be shutdown. Are there instructions how to do this somewhere?

I’m running PMS on Linux with a Plexpass. I’ve already created the new RAID, and have replicated the directory structure precisely. I haven’t yet installed PMS on it, however. While I know I can just install & let it auto-detect everything, there are a lot of customizations I’ve done to certain MP3s & Movies I’d like to keep. I’d also like to keep “already watched” data for the users, if at all possible.

From what I can see, it looks like my Plex Home directory is
/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server

Is copying that directory sufficient, or is there something more that needs to be done? Are there particular permissions that need to be in place for PMS to work correctly? (obviously, PMS would be turned OFF while the file actions are taking place)

Thanks for the quick response, moody_blue. That partly helps, but it does not clarify whether the customizations & “watched” data for the users will be transferred. Do you know if this is the case?

Yes, it preserves them. I’ve gone through the process when moved from Synology to QNAP.

Excellent - thank you for your help!

I just migrated today to my new server, and all went perfectly following the link provided above.
