Old computer crashed, need to move server location

Hey, my old computer is fried and i need to move server locations to a new computer, but can’t seem to get to this option, perhaps i’m missing something?

What have you done do far?

I currently have the old hard drive connected to the new computer copying files- I looked at the tips for moving server, but i can’t keep the orginal space since that computer is fired, right?

Define that… Are you saying the installation folder where plex was installed or are we talking about your media?

My Media. To clarify
Old Laptop is fried- that Hard Drive is currently plugged into my new laptop, registering as D: Drive

New Laptop- have downloaded plex server software.

On the Plex “Client” It just says that my media servers are unreachable

Moving from one system to another is easy only if all the paths stay the same.
To clarify a bit more…

Your old computer had plex installed in C:, right?
Your old computer had all your media in C:, right?

Yes! Sounds like a good start

Be sure to read about Empty trash automatically after every scan.

Then you should be able to install plex on new pc, exit plex if it runs after install, copy your plex database to new pc

run plex. a few things may need to be fixed… But that’s the general idea.

Since i can’t access the Original, can i “Empty trash automatically after every scan?”

You don’t have to do anything to the original instance of plex… You won’t have to run it. You just need the files.

It’s still not giving me these server options to edit or anything.

There is an option to remove server, can I do that and then just build a new server?

You can remove devices (servers and clients) from your account at plex.tv.

You don’t need anything from your old plex server except the media files, unless you’re trying to keep your old watch history. I’d just do a clean install of Plex Media Server on the new host, sign in to the new PMS with your Plex account, then create your libraries. I have burned down PMS machines several times, and it’s never much trouble to get the new install working just like the old one, even if I have some mismatched media or some “watched” status to fix.

Sweet thanks! Deleting and rebuilding is working-
