I just installed Version 1.7.2.3878 on my Nvidia Shield. I have an HDHomerun Extend, and see that there should be an option for “Process video while recording”, but this option is not present on my settings page of the Extend; I only see the Transcoder Quality option. Is the Process Video option no longer available? If so, could someone please update the documentation at https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/225877347-DVR-Beta- to state that as of Version X, that feature is not available?
The Extend will do it by default, so we don’t need on that device.
Change from ‘original quality’ to something, and the extend handles the conversion to H264 for you, before Plex gets it.
Thanks for the response. Per the link I listed above:
Process video while recording: When enabled, this tells Plex Media Server to remux the recording into a standard MKV container, rather than the .ts file you would otherwise get.
I’ll double-check, but I don’t believe the recordings from the Extend by default come out as .mkv.
They don’t. They come out as TS, which is the common container format of any live stream. Plex remuxes them to MKV by default now, that article does need updating.
I have verified that the recordings are indeed in mkv container. Thanks for the tip, and, yes, please update the documentation.
