Where things went wrong:
Previously, I was using an HDHomeRun Connect
. It never had issues with recordings failing, but I had some ugly lip sync issues when playing back in the captured MPEG2 format, and Live TV was never going to happen with an Android TV in that format. I had written a post-processing task to transcode them, but my wife wasn’t tolerating the delay well, so I bit the bullet and purchased an HDHomeRun Extend
, which works incredibly well with Live TV on all channels, and DVR is functioning perfectly for all channels tested except CBS. Unfortunately, CBS is the primary channel that we record, so it’s proving to be quite frustrating.
What the symptoms are:
For CBS scheduled recordings, no failure is indicated in the Recording Schedule, and all of the recordings show up in the library, but they vary in length from 1 to 5 minutes (today, for two different shows, I got 1 minute of one show and 5 minutes of the other). Yesterday, it was more like 2 minutes for both. Recordings scheduled on other channels have not failed, although it’s only been the news on PBS for the last two days.
What I’ve tried:
- First, removed the HDHomeRun Connect from the DVR device list
- Confirmed that I’m running the latest PMS (1.7.2.3878)
- Deleted the entire DVR and reconfigured it, then reset all of my scheduled recordings
- Turned the Log-Level down so that I could interpret it.
I have not rebooted the server or restarted the service, although that seems like an obvious second step. I’ll do that now and provide an update after the next scheduled recording on CBS.
What the log says (Excerpt):
- I’m getting a ton of the following
ERROR - DVR:Subscription: There was no scheduler for the DVR.
- The shows in question are the
CBS Evening News
(INFO log appended 5 minutes after start) andPBS NewsHour
(INFO log appended 1 hour after start, as expected).
Anybody have any ideas? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
