All other metadata (actors, matching, summary etc.) are correct and working as expected. However, no posters load and no background exists, even if i try to edit manually, there is no poster available to choose. Older items have no issues (as in the posters aren’t gone) WHat logs would you guys need to assist me with this? I am sure it’s something small.
- Please search before opening a thread. There are several pre-existing threads on this topic.
- Switch the entire library section to using the TMDB agent until TheTVDB has corrected their issues OR “Fix Match” and select TMDB as you download the poster there.
Thank you for the suggestions, I did search here and followed your recommendations as they were also suggested on reddit and other places to no avail.
I also tried changing the order of agents, doing force refresh afterwards, even deleting the com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb folder inside Plug-in Support/Caches as it was the solution for someone else. I just need someone to tell me what logs they need so that I can provide and we can figure out the solution.
Thanks for sharing what you’ve done.
Because of how the agents work, Changing the order won’t have any impact. The series has already been ‘matched’ with theTVDB agent. Once paired with it, changing order has no effect. Clearing caches only is of help when nothing is matching. What you’re seeing is a match without banner. This is a well known issue rooted at TheTVDB itself. It’s out of our control
The solution is to make it match again (“Fix Match”) or Edit the library section to use TMDB.
If this hasn’t worked for you, I would like to see your log set.
Thank you for assitance. Is that what you requested?
No changes when doing the Movie Database either. This could also be happening with Movies too, I just haven’t tried adding one today. Is it not possible that something is weird with permissions for some reason? Like inability to write in the posters folder or something? Does that make any sense?
Thanks for the logs.
If you had any inability to write the posters, none of your metadata would show because the .bundle
entries wouldn’t exist either so we can rule that out. If you have any suspicions, sudo chown -R plex:plex /var/lib/plexmediaserver &
will take care of that (let it run in the background until done)
This is the TheTVDB error everyone is seeing. (com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log)

- Edit the library section, Advanced Tab , Change to
TMDB
agent - Move the media out of the monitored directory (begin the Plex Dance)
- Scan files, Empty Trash, Clean Bundles, Optimize Database,
- Move files back
- Scan again if automatic match isn’t triggered automatically (depending on your settings)
Issue is fixed after trying everything suggested in the order suggested. Highy appreciate your input. Note, the Movie Database is now the agent for TV Shows library. I also added a new movie and poster generation is normal, no problems at all.
Does this mean i shouldn’t change the tv shows library agent to the tvdb anymore? Why did this of all days just start today?
I will make a general announcement in the Linux forum. I will speak to the forum admin about making a general public announcement for all. If he agrees, I will not post in favor of his more-proper post
The corrections are done. We’ve have tested them. It’s up to Engineering to pull the trigger but I do expect it today <fingers_crossed>
(Wed).
Thanks for this - I had the same problem with version 1.18.2.2029 (running a s a plugin within OpenMediaVault 4.0). For me it was enough to invoke the TMDB agent for the TV Shows, and then ‘Refresh All Metadata’ for the TV Shows. After this the poster etc. started to show up (so no need for me at least to do the correct Plex Dance).
Cheers/Evert
This is a TheTVDB problem. We’re working with them to resolve it.
Feel free to follow along.
