TheTVDB V3 - Post grade issues

This thread serves for diagnosing individuals’ systems since the upgrade of TheTVDB’s API to version 3.

I wish to keep the main thread free of diagnostic issues and general reporting.

Anything discovered here will be summarized and reported back in the master thread.

Please save everyone time by performing the following:

  1. DEBUG logging ON,
  2. VERBOSE logging OFF
  3. Refresh the metadata
  4. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  5. Attach the ZIP with your initial post.

Still don’t getting posters/pictures.

Same for me I am afraid, thanks for looking.

I can not tell from the various threads if Posters are supposed to be fixed or not.
I see some people saying they are working and others not.

So here are some logs from a minimal library on OSX. (latest OS 10.15.1 and Plex server 1.18.2.2029) There is only one TV show and a couple of episodes.

The Show and Season Poster do not load

The errors for me seem to be the SSL issue.

Have tried clearing my DNS caches as suggested on the tvdb forum, no difference.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-19_21-28-39.zip (48.3 KB)

and to add picking a media link from the errors the image will load in a browser:
e.g.
https://artworks.thetvdb.com/banners/posters/247897-7_t.jpg

My synology will not update its metadata with posters and other art but oddly, my 2019 shield picks up all metadata including posters and even season posters.

Thanks for the logs.

From your logs, I see it’s scanning and adding a lot of media.

I would like you to clear out the metadata caches. We do this to make sure nothing which has happened over the past few days is interfering.

  1. Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the Plex share
  2. Permissions tab - Give your Synology username R/W permissions\
  3. Stop Plex in Package Center
  4. File Station - Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches
  5. Delete all you see there.
  6. Start PMS
  7. Now “Refresh All Metadata”

I’m still having some issues myself. When I refresh the metadata for the TV Show “MASH”, it doesn’t want to pull the series poster, season poster, episode name and the rating of the show/episode. Attached are the logs I downloaded. I do hope this helps. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-19_17-34-42.zip (3.1 MB)

Zach,
I would like you to try cleaning the caches. With all the errors over the past few days, clearing the cache is a good way to start fresh

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Open C:\Users\Zachary\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Caches
  3. Delete the contents of the plug-ins cache.
  4. Start Plex
  5. Force Refresh all metadata and let it pull what was missing.

Followed your instructions @ChuckPa and forced meta data refresh on my synology 918 running PMS 2041 after clearing cache. Does not pick up posters and other art work including seasons artwork. Also does not correct posters and artwork on a fix match operation.
2019 shield pro PMS 2031 operates correctly.
Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-19_16-10-56.zip (7.2 MB)

That resolved most of the issues I saw for “MASH”! However, it still isn’t pulling the ratings for the show / episodes (I’m not too worried about that).

Other then that, there are shows on my media server that aren’t pulling the season posters along with the ratings I mentioned earlier. One is “Married… with Children” and the other is “My Hero Academia”. Attached is another round of logs. Should I remove them from the server and add them back on? If I need to wait, I understand. Thanks again!

There still might be issues with TheTVDB . I would also be patient with it.
This has been a major realignment at TheTVDB.

Scott and team have done a great job keeping us up to date but there’s still a lot of work they’re doing behind the scenes.

I understand. I’ve been following the thread for the last couple of days and thought I could contribute for the first time on your site. Good luck to the you and team at TVDB!!!

@ChuckPa anything I can contribute further, please let me know. Got plenty of time.

Still can’t follow thread enough to know if this is supposed to be fixed or not yet… I’ve got about 90 series that have no posters and a handful with bad metadta. Here are my logs which are full of ssl errors: Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-19_17-52-24.zip (5.8 MB)

@Hylas01

I see a lot of errors in your logs relating to metadata. I would like you to also clear out the metadata cache and give PMS a clean slate to start with again.

Your server is very busy working on Music. It’s also working on photos.
I cannot tell how much there is to do or how loaded that i3-3220 actually is.

I do see some timeouts where PMS is trying to talk to itself. This is a solid indication of overload.

I also see you have loaded plug-ins. The default max allowed is 6 (total including the Framework bundle) and PMS reports it’s exceeded that. If you have a lot, this will contribute to the latency .

I see the SSL errors reaching out to TheTVDB for the fanart banners.
I can directly access the URL and pull the photo.

I cannot explain this but perhaps @scottzsori can share some insight here?
(Sorry to ping you Scott)

I can’t tell if it’s reporting error because of individual files or not.

@Hylas01

I would like you drill down into the “Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches”
directory, wherever it is on your system.

With Plex stopped,

Delete everything in the Caches directory but not the directory itself.

Once all is deleted then the cache is clear and PMS starts with a clean slate.

Start PMS.
Force Refresh All Metadata for one section and see how well it does.
If improvement / success then continue with more after the first completes.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-19_19-36-37.zip (4.5 MB)

Here are my logs still not loading posters for shows that are missing. Metadata seems to be loading fine. I also cleared the Caches directory before refreshing again.

I get similar errors when trying to grab art from TVDB (nothing new is being picked up). Can get to these fine from a browser. Synology for me. This is only a recent thing, so I’m suspecting has to do with the changes to TVDB. Grabbing show metadata has been sketchy over the last week or so too. Cache has been cleared.

For example:

@greebs777

This seems to be one of the last remaining issues at TheTVDB.

Would you please also do as I requested above; stop plex; clear the agent caches; start and then refresh?

Hi - I edited after my initial reply to say that cache has been cleared as per other requests. No change. Cheers.
