Because not seeing the opening or closing credits for Eden of the East makes me sad.
I agree completely.
MKV has support for concatenation multiple MKVs so during playback it looks like one longer file.
The most common usage is currently in Anime to chop out the OP and ED sequences for every episode so you only include one copy as a separate file that is inserted at playback into the episode, instead of leaving the OP/ED in the episode.
With 10bit h264 1080p episodes coming out, batch files are getting huge for a single series. It also allows for chapters like you have in DVD playback to skip between the op.
Here's some info on it I just goggled for

I hope this wasn't too old to 'necro' ... I felt it was better then making a new thread.
It's a feature request forum. Better to keep the votes togeather :)
I agree, it just feels weird doing it like this.. most forums necro post are bad =p
…concatenation…
Concatenation (i.e. segment linking at end and start of file) is actually a distinct (but related) feature from ordered chapter linking (i.e. segment linking at any point in the timeline). A lot of the same code could be useful for both, though.

god damn MKVs are confusing ... I just want my damn OP/ED to work .. it isn't my fault fansubs are trying to save 2gb of data like that is a big deal.
Sigh.. I just had to redownload an anime because it had ordered chapters.. I had to hunt down a version without it.
It’s been years, and we still need this.
I have between 4-5TB of anime with segment linked OP/ED. It drives me nuts that I have to play my anime on an external player and not in Plex. I’m putting in my support but I’ve been following the various threads for 4-6 years so not exactly hopeful…
We definitely need this, I have to re-encode everything without ordered chapters and its frustrating! Please implement.
Since I guess this coveres both segment linking and ordered chapters…
With PMP being based on mpv, this shouldn’t be especially difficult to implement for direct play in PMP. The server side would certainly be trickier, with having to transcode for basically every other player, but I don’t think it would be impossible.
With this request being this old I’m a little pessimistic, but I want to add my voice that this is a wanted feature even 4 years after this request was first made.
+vote Support for ordered chapters would be greatly appreciated Plex. Please? Pretty please?
2018, and this still isn’t part of Plex? Come on guys. Original request is 5 years old now.
Anime aside, it’s super popular for movies to have multiple cuts in one file (theatrical, extended, director’s, etc.). Currently Plex just plays the main version with all of the extra scenes at the end after the credits.
It’d be nice if, in supported players, that it’d prompt you to pick a playlist version. Current functionality would be fine for legacy players or whatever.
closed in favor of this older, and better explained, request
