I’ve been using plex a long time, at the time it was far and away the best, but it cost money, and I was ok with that… meanwhile in the last 3 years everyone has caught up and even passed Plex and I don’t understand… I keep using plex in parallel with emby but plex seems to be losing features I use more than adding features I want

I understand, except some Emby clients looks like trash, and it has half the clients. I know lots of people using PS3 and PS4 as clients already… don’t see how I’d move to a platform without that.
On top of it, the client settings page is a mess.
That said, I do wish Plex would focus on the server more for some time… playlist sync should have been done on Android a long time ago, max bandwidth setting is a must, etc.
This thread is, or perhaps I should now say was, about one specific thing I saw with the new interface for 0.9.15.0. It wasn’t intended to be about Emby. Or about your personal dissatisfaction of where Plex is going. You have as much ability to start your own threads about those as I do about what I reported in the start of this thread, or speculated on in further replies.
I see the possibilities that OM and bandwidth limits can bring to Plex. That’s what the later parts of this thread have been about. Do you have anything further about Plex or these features combining together you would like to share?
Maybe you should be posting on Emby’s boards about how far behind Plex is. Then all the Emby folks can get together with you and have a sing-a-long and pat themselves on the back and say how grand the app is over Plex… Then at least you aren’t hijacking someone’s thread with your Emby Praises.

I’ll believe it when I see it… then I’ll wait for it to be taken away in some update because it isn’t a “very used” feature or something… I have been migrating users away from my plex server to emby… has all these features and more, and it’s free… plex really needs to catch up and I don’t mean adding support for more devices… get your core fixed up first
no one cares about your opinions of emby. we care about plex so let’s keep the conversation about the product.

neat, you can speak for everyone on the entire planet?

I can speak for the majority of everyone in this thread who don’t care for Emby, yknow as we are on a Plex forum. Seeing as you’re bringing no constructive criticism to the table and purely advertising another product instead of validating your points, go troll somewhere else if you dislike Plex so much.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with bringing up Emby to compare features and whatnot. They have some nice features in the works that lots of Plex users would love to see. (Live TV, GPU encoding, box sets, bandwidth limitations, true users on the server, etc). But there is a lot more lacking than Plex such as client support.

Lets just all keep it friendly…
Neither do I but he’s not comparing features is he? He’s moaning and failed to justify his reasoning’s behind them ergo, a troll.
Hopefully we’ll see this feature soon. I’m interested in the bandwidth limits options for select users. My kids are at college and want to use Plex from my server, but with Comcast and their damn 300gb limits, no way until I have some control over how much they use it.

am I not? this thread is about speed caping, emby has this, plex does not…
and the only reason I am here is because I do like plex more, and want to use it as my primary solution because emby has MUCH MUCH less platform support compared to plex at the moment, and I just like the PMS web ui/functionality…

You made your feelings known right here… What could have been a good discussion, involving two developer’s is now troll central. It’s not often we get Dev’s to comment on features before they come out, and I thought we were onto something for a change. Thank you for ruining a discussion about what we would like to see with this feature before it gets implemented.
Can I please have a Mod or Ninja lock this? I’m tired of the whining. Not worth the efforts to reply any further.

Yay! I was about to create different libraries with optimized versions at limited bitrates. I guess now I can just wait for this
I feel like I ripped you guys off by getting lifetime before the price was increased! Do you have a donation option? A quick Google search doesn’t bring up anything.
Also to people making requests: we all need to realize that it is often the case in software development, that X amount of development time can satisfy 80% of the users, and you need 5X the time to satisfy the other 20%. It is reasonable that sometimes developers will choose to stop at the 80% and move on to the next future.

You have a belligerent, disrespectful way of showing it.
