1.15.0.647 - windows - no hardware decode nvidia

Server Version#: 1.15.0.647
Player Version#:

Previously working on the last public release 1.14, NVDECode is not working for hardware acceleration.

See also was not working on alpha @ Much faster (hopefully), smaller (mostly) and better PMS builds preview (1.15.0.573-123756e9a)

Can you post logs?

Can you give us a little more detail of what’s not working? The logs seems to indicate that nvenc is working.

ENCODE is fine.

DECODE is not working (was working previously on release 1.14

Can you post the log from 1.14 as well so we can compare?

sure i’ll have to uninstall 115 and reinstall 114 so will be a few

No stress it’s bed time here anyway - but the transcoder team is aware of this post so hopefully we can find the issue ASAP.

We have identified a issue. Will be fixed for the next build.

sounds great.

btw in unrelated feedback, the upgrade fro 114 to 115 (via plexweb even) went smoothly with no apparent issues.

And thanks to the team for the updates and fixes.

@tobiashieta hi sorry to bother you again, but looks like HA DEcoding broke again on build 1.15.1.707

same install and hardware as previous above, just upgraded to 707.

Just found this thread. I had hardware decoding working for a hot minute with 1.15.1.707 but I can’t get it working anymore. Using a Nvidia P2000.

@TeknoJunky So I know I had hardware decode working on 1.15.1.707. I have screenshots that prove it. However, I can’t get it working again at least not without a dummy displayport dongle. I was reading over in this thread and saw that he needed one for Intel QuickSync to work so I figured I would try and sure enough hardware decoding is working again now that I have a dummy dongle plugged in.

I just installed a Tesla P4 and the decode isn’t working for me. Encode is working fine.

tesla have no video output right?

not sure if they will be able decode without one.

@TeknoJunky

Correct. However, It has the decoder engine on the card. I’m exchanging it for a Quadro RTX 4000 which does have outputs. However, I’m still puzzled why some cards on the NVDEC/NVENC chart have numbers “blacked out”. You can see a number in the box but they black it out.

The Quadro on its way has the NVDEC session number (2) blacked out telling me it might not decode either…

I don’t see any cards nvdec blacked out ?

in any case, i think you spending a whole lot of money for nothing, even with just a p2000 you will likely run out of CPU and/or disk/network IO before you run out of gpu.
