1.15.3.x web playback pegs 1 CPU core at 100%

Ok, I’ll do it for 3 situations:

  1. Play a video with subs and HW transcode everything.
  2. Play a video with subs, direct play the sub and HW transcode the video
  3. Play a video without subs

Give me a few minutes.

EDIT:

Situation 1: HW transcoding video and burning subs into it

Apparently this problem only happen when transcoding subs, when they get burned into the video or we disable it, the CPU use is back to normal.

Also, can you please remove the logs after downloading it? Thx a lot.

Please feel free to take down your logs.

You did not state it was in Docker.

I cannot help with Docker. My apologies.

I don’t use it because it’s so fraught with problems

I’ve mentioned it before, I’m using docker, but, afaik, this problem is also happening to non-docker installs.

Also, can you point me someone of the help team that can help us?

Just FYI, I’m not using docker and I’m seeing the same behavior. I just think it goes unnoticed because I assume most people don’t use the Web-player. However, I think this triggers for any platform that need subtitles converted.

I think it might be better do downgrade to 1.15.2 to avoid this problem.

Yeah, it’s not a docker related problem, would love if you manage to post a few logs.

Since it only happen when transcoding subs, I might just force burning and we’re good.

Any news or fixes for this problem?

Just tried 1.16.3.1433 and this problem still exists. What’s even weirder is that Tautulli claims it is converting .SRT -> .ASS for the Chrome web player, but if I switch to an .ass subtitle source that is embedded in the container, it instead starts burning the subtitle into the video.

People using subtitles seems to be 2nd level citizens in Plex world, starting to regret I actually paid for a lifetime plex pass.
