Currently OpenPHT does not play back HEVC encoded files using the main10 profile. I use Kodi 17.0 with either PlexKodiConnect or the official Plex addon in order to play 10bit and HDR movies. This works fine, but I prefer OpenPHT as a fully integrated player for my HTPC directly connected to my 4K HDR TV. Are there any plans to update OpenPHT to allow 10 bit playback?

What hardware and what OpenPHT release are you using?
@benjaminwolf , I am using latest windows 10 and 1.7.1 OPHT from the main thread here.
Edit for hardware: MSI Cubi 2, which is a mini-pc with a Kaby Lake i5 7200U, 16GB DDR4.
Kodi 17 properly makes use of hardware decoding of Main and Main10. OpenPHT makes use of hardware decoding of Main only.
do they not playback as you first in first post, or are they playing without hardware decoding? so jerky/slow etc
They always play back, but are very jerky/blocky/slow and CPU pegs at 100% all cores. Audio doesn’t play correctly either, I assume because the CPU is just thrashed at that point.
so, pretty much right now, (1.7.1) the windows build of openpht is based on kodi isengard but with an updated ffmpeg
its likely we wont get the full range of various 4k hardware decoding on windows until openpht is updated using a later kodi backend - sometime in the future.
