24p and TrueHD, DTS-MA support on PS4?

Does the playstation 4 version of plex support 24p, truehd, and dts-ma? How stable is this release? Does the PS4 version support the plex remote app for ios?

Hi –

Just tried with the current version of PMS (on Win10), and PS4. Few observations that may help you and others:

  • my AV Receiver doesn’t see 24p :frowning:
  • TrueHD 7.1 I tested is decoded on the PS4, multi channel perfectly received on the AVR
  • I can see the Sony PlayStation as player in the iOS app, need to test it as a remote later
  • overall experience is smooth, I’ll start using it for TV shows, and compare picture quality with my high end blu-ray player

What do you use to encode your movies? I ask because Handbrake can’t touch TrueHD. I love how clean the picture is with handbrake, but the audio encoding needs some work.

You can use StaxRip, it is the software used now for the rippers that are starting using x265. BTW, x265 is compatible with plex, it works for me, nice image and the sound you want

X265 has nothing to do with the audio.
