4k HDR > SDR Tone Mapping - How much CPU usage with quicksync? Buy now or wait?

For anyone doing this now, what does your CPU usage look like?

I haven’t been able to find out much about exactly what kind of CPU usage is seen in a 4k > 1080p HDR > SDR conversion with a version 6 Kaby/Coffee/Comet Lake intel cpu/igpu combo. I understand the tone mapping isn’t hardware accelerated, I just have no idea how big of a dent it makes.

I’d be looking at the Xeon W-1290P with P630 iGPU specifically (Version 6, link below). My current Xeon 12 core E5-2678v3 cant handle a single one of these conversions without choking so I’m looking for a somewhat future proof replacement. I know hardware tone mapping isn’t coming until Version 7 Ice Lake so I’m not sure if now is the wisest time to purchase but waiting another year is an awfully long time. Thanks for any feedback!

The very simple answer:

Intel J34xx and J4xxx CPUs , using Docker (because Docker image has the libraries), can do this with room to spare.
