4k rips buffering issue with movies having bitrate > 50

Server Version#: Version 1.32.4.7195
Player Version#: Shield Pro Plex client version 9.26.0.2648
Hello, I am facing buffering issues for all my 4k movies which have bitrate more than 50. I tried all thing possible but not been able to find solution to this.

My internet connect is 300+ mbps and I am using wifi to run plex client on nvidia shield pro & server is installed on my laptop running windows 11( i7 10750H CPU 2.6 GHZ with 16GB ram) running from 10tb external HDD.

Looking for suggestions as I specially bought sheild pro to run my 4k rips in original format, from plex dashboard there is no transcoding happening and all rips are running in direct play but still it buffers every 15-20 secs

You are running both the player and the server per WiFi. This is not recommended at all.
Particularly considering that the Shield Pro has a Gigabit-capable Ethernet port.
Wire them up, using a Gigabit Ethernet switch.
Stop Plex server and restart it and the Plex client, after swapping the network connection.

In general, laptops don’t make the best Plex servers – particularly if you’re after the maximum in bitrates and quality. They’re built for power efficiency and portability, typically with tradeoffs in their performance to reach these goals.

P.S. the wiring is even more important if you’re using a networked file storage (i.e. a NAS device) for your media.

Thanks for replying back.
Hard wiring is a issue due to setup I am having & would take significant time & restructuring which would be very difficult.
Is there any specific reason that movies will not be able to run with wifi, the speed that i am getting is closer to 350mbps on both windows laptop & shield pro.
Does logs point to some bottleneck that I can tweak by changing some settings. Sorry for asking so many questions, any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks again.

There are no clues in the server log.
If there is insufficient bandwidth, these would show up in the client log.

Where is the media file stored? inside or outside the server machine?

Open the Windows task manager on the server machine. CTRL+Shift+Esc
Switch it to the Performance tab.
Monitor the load on the hard drive(s). Do they reach or even stay at 100% load? Do the 100% peaks roughly coincide with the buffering events?

Then try placing internet router, Shield and laptop closer together, to improve wireless reception.
That is the only option, short off wiring up the devices. If you can’t do that, lower your quality expectations or consider a whole diffferent approach. Like pluggin in a hard drive directly into the Shield and then use Kodi on it.

The media files are stored in 10Tb hard disk which is connected to laptop running plex server.
Here is the disk & wifi usage from task manager

Yes they do reach 100% load but its not constant peak & its same when i run lower bit rates 4k movies but those run normally.

And thanks again for sharing other possible option here.
