I don’t think this necessarily qualifys as a bug, more so probably a setting I’m overlooking. If I have direct play on, and I play a 4k video file on a 1080p display, it doesn’t work. Is there a way to only transcode in Rasplex when needed to match the display resolution?
I don’t believe that this is a problem with OSX’s version of PHT.
Thanks!
Rasplex does not handle the transcoding, PMS does, Rasplex will identify it as an unknown codec and ask PMS to transcode. Have you tried the same video in PlexWeb?

I have a 4K file too. In PlexWeb it works fine on Plex on an ANdroid Phone too. Only Rasplex can`t play this File. I hear the sound but the screen shows only pixels.
4K is not currently supported.

4K played on a 1080p Display.
Any 4K media will be transcoded by PMS, 4K support for Direct Play in Rasplex can never be supported due to hardware limitations.
Have just played the Skyfall 4K trailer in the next release of Rasplex with no problems, it was transcoded by PMS.
