A known issue for the latest server version.
Uninstall and then install 0.9.16.0

I am also getting this error. Is this something that Plex intends to put a fix out for quickly (like today) or do I really need to go through the uninstall/reinstall?

Plex devs have not released any details yet, but it was really only researched and discovered yesterday. It’s not a lot of work to roll back (just uninstall 0.9.16.1 and install 0.9.16.0), so if you need a usable Plex server right now you might want to roll back.

Same problem here, seems to roll back to Version 0.9.12.13.

I do everything for worst… I`m very frustrated. A lot!!
List:
1.try reinstalling Plex /same issue
2.try to fix under uninstall options /same issue
3.delete all database (more of 1000 movies and 1000 flac) /same issue
4. uninstall PLEX from scratch (include regedit, data/user, etc)
5. restart the computer, check if any key was remain
6. reinstall from Plex scratch (first I close all signs in the browser, clean cache, etc.)
7. I try again setting up the server, but at the beginning one message say that I need claim my server … so… I do the re-login from the server and in plex.tv .
8. I proceed to make from scratch the first library
9. I wait to metadata, etc. and browse the content… after the fifth movie ZAP! 500 internal server error.
10. After all, and my frustration, I decide to format my computer from scratch W10 is already installed again, and all programs… Everybody knows what kind of work and time is this.
11. When I finish, I try to find issues reported, and finally I find this post

I have PlexPass and I use the pass versions to update.
I don’t understand this company, they don’t answer nothing, seems don’t care nothing… I’m lost with all this.

I have no server installed yet, seems roll back to Version 0.9.12.13. is the only choice, buy I can’t find any OFFICIAL status from Plex.tv

So… if any know the solution to this issue, I appreciate share the info.

Now I’m keep waiting after install anything

Thank you for read this post and special thanks to @arkx82 for open the tread
Regards

Hello, thank you @kegobeer-plex for the temporal solution, but in march 10th they tread this:
[“Old Plex Media Server versions are vulnerable. Update your install!!”](http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/210919/old-plex-media-server-versions-are-vulnerable-update-your-install#latest ““Old Plex Media Server versions are vulnerable. Update your install!!””)

I’m afraid to install nothing until they publish the official position about the security risk of the old versions and the new “failed update” :frowning:

If you read the announcement, you’ll see that 0.9.16.0 is perfectly safe. It’s only very old versions that are vulnerable.
