Just tried to finally install the 64-bit version of PMS. I downloaded the latest from the website: PlexMediaServer-1.29.0.6244-819d3678c-x86_64, but trying to run it, the installer says that it doesn’t support the version of Windows that I’m running.
However, the Support page → Plex server requirements clearly states that Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is supported.
The 64 bit version doesn’t run on Windows 7, which is no longer supported by Microsoft.
Windows Server 2008 R2 is based on Windows 7 and is also no longer supported by Microsoft.
But, IMHO, it won’t be that much longer.
It simply isn’t viable to invest developer time to upkeep compatibility with an operating system which is no longer maintained by its manufacturer since almost 3 years.
