Here is a trick that may help someone. In the advanced recording options you can specify how many minutes to extend the recording before and after the scheduled time of the program. I record NFL games and sometimes the network tacks on a 30min pregame. The guide shows as 4:00-7:30, but I dont want that first 1/2 hr of pregame. What you can do is set the "minutes before start to a negative value. In my example I set to -30. The recording schedule will still show 4:00-7:30 but it wont start recording until 4:30.
