I have 1000s of albums, singles and EPs on my server and would really like the ability to create virtual albums under an artist. This would allow me to create my own “Best of” or “Greatest Hits” albums that would be playable and searchable like any other album. More directly aligned with an artist than a playlist.
Use the “rating” of a track to do that. Then you can build automatic playlists which incorporate only tracks above a certain rating.
For instance, almost all of the “Radios” in Plexamp are working like that.
True, but then I I have to navigate to the Playlists range to find the one I want, which could be hundreds, rather than just going to the artist and playing the virtual album. Perhaps it would be useful if a playlist could be listed under an artist.
