Access without auth locally only works when using IP

Hi everybody,

i want to have access in mal local LAN to my plex server without auth. I have specified the my local lan under “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” and this works fine if I access the server via IP in the browser. If i set a local DNS record in my router to avoid using the IP I always get the message “This application is at [DNS name] and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access.” and I cannot access the server without auth. What am I doing wrong?

Regards

I have the same problem

This is by design.

When you setup the server to allow your lan without authentication, it will not prompt for any.

The “Not hosted by” is plex/web telling you it’s not Plex’s server (because it’s your server). You’re seeing an attempt to authenticate. (app.plex.tv ??)

You can only use IP addresses / DNS names which you create and manage including any remote access by yourself. The server is in full manual operation mode.
