Hello, I had this same problem. I managed to solve it according to this topic here. With a little patience it worked.
This only works with text-based subtitles. Not with PGS or VOBSUB. These you’d have to convert first.
I’m bumping this old topic because this feature was supposed to be implemented. And it still hasn’t.
My family have several people that are deaf and have vision problems and need the subtitles to have a background. Every other streaming service has this built in the player (amazon, netflix, youtube, microsoft movie, etc)
When will we be seeing this implemented, it’s not like it’s hard to do. It’s literally an option in nearly every text draw command.
PGS subtitles are not text. They are pictures.
Then explain why the XBox Plex app can do it but the Apple Plex app can’t.
It’s also literally an option in nearly every graphical draw command too.
There is zero reason to not have it enabled on all plex apps when it’s available on the Xbox app.
