I’ve recently loaded music to the Plex server on a Synology DS423+ and it has been an experience based on my own jump first approach, and through that a valid obsevation, or at least I believe so.
First the issue for me.
I no longer have access to the settings (three dots) when a folder is playing so I can set the playback to Shuffle . When I move to and select, I get a gray screen. Selecting return on the remote to the previous screen does not work and the only way out is to exit Plex and relaunch. If relavent, here is the folder info: 5,267 Files, 443 Folders 31.4 GB. Any assistance with this issue would be appreciated.
The observation
The music loaded was a folder called “Mix.” All music has been set locally with the proper metadata information including album art via VLC. The music files display properly within Windows media player and VLC on a local computer and on the player in my vehicle. However, when loaded to plex, the metadata for the first song was applied to all songs. Interesting. However, I read the Plex help files and applied the changes for local metadata and all is perfect. This is more an FYI for anyone experiencing the same issue, or someone that can explain the why on grabbing the metadata for the first and applying to all.
