I have numerous libraries for movies by year. I find that when I view a movies detail page and click on an Actor it only shows me other movies from THAT library. Is there a way to click on an Actor name regardless of what library it is in and have it scan ALL library folders…kind of like when you do a global search for a Title and it searches all library folders?
Anyone?? Bueller?
Don’t know what client you are using, but in the web client have you tried using the search at the top of the page?

I think he is saying when you are inside the movie.
It should be very nice.
It is very annoying having only the movies that are in that library when you watch an actor.
There is a simple trick to do this,
in my case I have folders with names like: action, scifi, drama etc
create a new folder with the name all, create from the command prompt sym-links to the others, create a new library with the name all, with the created directory in it,
for people who don’t know unix, example on my synology:
mkdir /volumeUSB2/usbshare/all
cd /volumeUSB2/usbshare/all
ln -s …/action
ln -s …/horror
ln -s …/thriller
etc
now you can select the movie in the “all” library and see all movies for each actor.
It;s not really a simple fix, it’s a work-around.
A lot of us create our libraries divided into genres, categories, whatever, for a reason. Probably so that we don’t have an “All” section, if nothing else. Navigating to the “All” library only when you want to search for an actor doesn’t seem very practical to me.
This work-around still won’t let you search for an actor between library types - that is, a TV library and a Movie library.
The only way to get a search across all libraries is with the search function. Fairly easy on Plex Web or a device with a keyboard , but frustrating with a Roku or some other device without one.
Wow. This isn’t an option after over three years?! Omg!
Got tired of waiting - invented the Mother of all Work-Arounds:
Creating the “All” library is not a fix - doing that creates its own problems, it’s like a work-around, but it introduces additional bloat on the server, for which there is no work around. If I create the “All” library, all the artwork is duplicated for all the content of that library, adding a large amount of bulk to the database that I don’t want. Even with the awesome db optimization, it still makes my server unhappy. I suppose creating the “All” library would work just fine, but only if libraries shared artwork. So, please fix one or the other.
Now the end of 2019 and still not a feature. This should be simple to implement. C’mon guys.
Yet another reason NOT to get plex pass.
for YEARS people are asking for a feature and still plex team don’t give a ■■■■ what the end user wants.
Hell, even EMBY can do it - seems my money should go to emby and not plex
