Plex obviously has the option to convert video to an appropriate format. Unfortunately it means a sub directory within the existing directory with a secondary video file.
I think I speak for a large chunk of the Plex community when I say that this is getting really really stupid that plex doesn’t have an option to put the conversion in the same folders as the original AND delete the original file.
Sure! You can convert the file but you end up with a duplicate taking up space on your drive that you don’t need to have.
I have been searching for a way to do this and have witnessed posts as far back as 2016 about this feature.
I’d appreciate it if everyone could +1 this if they agree with this being added to the next update of plex because this is a small modification which will make a big difference to the usability of plex.
The admins have obviously closed this thread now without the opportunity for any sort of discussion on the manner because the request has “been made before.” Starting all the way back in 2015. and considering the fundamental nature of the overall feature requested not being made available means that it looks as if the conversion feature is half assed and only half finished, you’d have thought repeated requests for said feature would have been dealt with over the 4 years since the intial request but…nope.
