i am really annoyed of shows being taken off their platform by Netflix and other streaming services, is it possible to add to plex server ability to save shows from those services on plex server. I believe that PlayOn service has something like that.

That would very likely be against the Terms of Service for those services and quite unlikely to be supported by Plex.

PlayOn wouldn’t be getting away with it if it did. Technically, or more to the point, legally PlayOn is a DVR that can be compared to TiVo or Tablo. Recording programs off Hulu or Netflix using PlayOn is no different than using Plex to record NBC OTA. Legally, recordings off broadcast television for personal, non-commercial use are legal under the Fair Use doctrine. Also note that recording programs for viewing at a more convenient time is permitted by United States copyright law as fair use. All it does is allow you to access content that you as subscriber have a right to access from another device or another location at another time.
PlayOn, by the way, is one of the reasons the streaming services now allow downloading content.
PlayOn works well but it does have major limits. 720 and only 2 channel audio. All the other streaming services encrypt their content even when downloaded and then you’re limited to only using their player. Using Plex as a player for any streaming service such as Netflix/Hulu would require them signing off on that. But it would be a really cool feature.
With the way DRM is integrating…it would require standardizing encryption across all platforms…honestly don’t see that happening anytime soon…
