I would like the ability to add deep links to other services to my movie and tv show libraries. I know this could be possible because Channels DVR allows for people to create a text document with a deep link to another service (like itunes) that can be named with the standard naming convention and then loaded into the library and will then open the service in question to the right service.

There’s an existing feature request asking to support such STRM files – I suppose this is aiming at actually playing those files through Plex.

Emby allready added this feature and its starting to get a lot of attention since it did, because there are scripts that just passthrough the STRM to the client, thus getting rid of transcoding, wasting precious resources, and everything gets direct play…
There’s another suggestion asking to do a direct link to online streamers – though this suggestion has zero votes.
I know many people have requested services like Amazon video, Google play video etc be linked into Plex to get the holy grail of one source for all videos, and I understand the reasons why this can’t be done - DRM protection etc
However, would it be possible to at least link these accounts in, so that the movies appear in the library. These could then either show as being on the service, or even better link directly to that app.
