Hello,
I love Plex and have been a Plex Pass holder for quite some time. One feature I would really appreciate is proper visibility into downloads/offline sync activity across my server.
At the moment, downloads are largely a black box compared to streaming analytics. As a server admin, I would love to be able to see things such as:
• Which files users are downloading
• Whether the download was direct play or transcoded
• Download speeds and transfer performance
• Device/client used
• Download completion/failure statistics
• Storage usage and download frequency trends
• Historical download activity
This is one of the last major visibility gaps in Plex for me. Tautulli and other tools provide fantastic streaming insight, but downloads remain largely inaccessible.
Even exposing this data through an official API would be a huge improvement, as third-party developers could then build dashboards and analytics around it.
For many of us running larger Plex environments, downloads are now a major part of how users consume content, especially on mobile devices and while travelling. Having proper observability around that activity would make Plex feel far more complete from an administration perspective.
