Add inserted while watching movie streamed from private LAN Server

I am a long time Plex user but have never -ever- seen an advertisement inserted, especially 3 ads in a row which interrupt a movie. I looked here in the forum but didn’t see anything that felt relevant. I’m a bit surprised. Part of the reason I began using Plex was to get away from broadcast TV and cable advertisements. I do not ever want to see an advertisement. If I could shut this down everywhere in my life I would.

So, I’m extremely sad about Plex now. I want to learn more about why Plex does this and if there is any way that I can stop this from happening. There’s nothing in Plex Premium that mentions that paying eliminates advertisements.

Please help me to understand what is happening. I don’t want to believe that Plex is now cutting in advertisements. If it does this now and cannot be stopped, I will absolutely delete Plex in a heartbeat.

I’m so sad. I’m really hoping this is some kind of bug related to a service that I’m not using.

You were watching one of the VOD movies. It may be a movie you ALSO have in your library, but you were watching it from the “Plex Movies & TV” section. This entire section is add supported content from Warner Brothers and soon to be a few others. You can disable this in your account settings, but you will not have access to those movies unless they are also movies you have in your library.

Thank you for the quick answer. That may be possible. I was watching on iOS and might have accidentally navigated here. I definitely own this content locally and didn’t intend to touch anything with ads.

Is there a way to disable VOD services so that I never accidentally play one?

I can’t tell you how relieved I am to learn about what I did… Thank you!
