Add support for live TV and DVR for Protected Channels (Channels with Copy-Once flag/DRM encryption)

For those with CableCard tuners, many providers now implement DRM on TV channels. Currently Plex can not view or record channels with DRM. SIliconDust, Tivo, and Windows Media Center all have support for DRM channels. Plex could be a full replacement for those solutions if they implement DRM support.

Any progress made on this feature? We are in 2021 now

Team, I would implore the plex team to revisit this topic. I have a HDHOMERun cableCard tuner.

I would wish that DRM Protected channels ONLY Play, with no DVR record (Similar to what plex did with their content tuner).

Protected DRM content with COPY-ONCE. Could this just be played, no record ?? CableCard does all the decode (etc), so no expense to Plex (as I understand it).

I am running: Version 1.26.0.5715 on linux (Centos8) and would be more than happy to help in whatever way is needed.

I really want to able to use receivers with CI/PCMCIA modules. most of Europe’s cable and sat compaies use it, and the channels are 90% encrypted. I have a CI card I can plug in my TV (or in a suitable receiver).

From what I gather it all comes down the the incredible $$$$ that cable labs charges and the rats maze of hoops they make developers jump through to get certification.
