Most (movie) content we run into is 2.39:1, my particular ultrawide monitor is 2.39:1 yet content with hard coded black bars for 16:9 displays cause several inches of black box all around the content being played on my 38" ultrawide monitor. On several occasions I switch to VLC in order to take advantage of this feature. My main concern is to have this added to Plex desktop but I am sure the feature is welcome on all platforms.
I know you are asking to have settings configured built-in to do this but you can configure yourself for zoom/crop and other features.
some info on what config files to edit which has info specific to zoom/crop
What in the world? I would expect several different ācrop settingsā to just be in the āplayback settings menuā along with the other commonly used quality and subtitle settings.
My users arent going to be able to follow this themselves on their machinesā¦
Well you were talking about your own ultrawide monitor and such for that specific app so just wanted to give you info if you cared to try that method.
I didnāt mean to suggest I was saying no to the feature request.
My appologies. I didnāt intend for my response to sound so confrontational.
I use mine with an ultrawide and would like to stop manually editing my mkvās to crop them if I can help it. Itās time consuming.
Yes, absolutly. It is quite dissapointing that a feature seen in most all other video players is not present on Plex Desktop. Iāll be continueing my practice of switching to VLC for local network playback from my server until Plex can get their stuff together.
