Since Sound is about the most important part of all movies, tv series, and music playback…….how about integrating Vst plugin support inserted into the PMS so that anyone who ibelieves that the sound of your experience is of paramount importance to the multimedia experience, they can leverage the integration of a professional, highly customizable, audio experience through the employment of readily available 3rd party plugins from many different audiophile specialized developers. Perhaps adopting the VST standard Plugin capability would allow for seamless integration into the PLEX experience in both the MP3, MP4, and MKV formats used in audio and video workstation Apps. like Cubase, Studio One, Protools, Vegas and Soundforge etc.
This being possible,……it would alleviate the hassle of PLEX having to develop, update, and write a whole lot of coding into the PLEX App. Itself by relegating that task to other developers who must write their applications to the VST Plugin standard thereby making it work on anything that supports VST plugins, again alleviating the need for PLEX to develop an advanced stand-alone EQ, Spatial effects generator, or Sound effects generator,…. As there are all kinds of these plugins that are both widely available, and superior in their technological development of specific plugins that shape sound. and this is regardless of which type of media the user is sending to the client ( Apple TV, ROKU, Firestick etc)…. whichever one it might be.
As high quality customizable sound is so essential to the PLEX experience , I’ve always wondered why this kind of “gaping hole” existed n the implementation of the PLEX experience. As PLEX TV is by far the best customizable interface for enjoying your multimedia. I am typically on Plex for 3 to 8 hours a day.and I love it!
Yet there is no integrated section of the PMS interface to address this essential part of the experience. It’s just been a little bit confusing to me…… as ALL media types have different sonic profiles as far as gain, equalization, and spatial characteristics.
Currently, I am relegated to using the crappy 5 band EQ in my TV that simply doesn’t do the job well.
A robust focus on this aspect of the watching and listening experience is essential to getting the most out of PLEX,….as PLEX users tend to be a bit more technologically adept than your typical consumer of say, Netflix HBO, ITunes etc… This would open the door for a whole constellation of choices that would be available to users to individually invest in their own Plugin preferences, thereby affording them a highly customized individual experience based on any preference they might have…… How Awesome would that be!? ![]()
Is this a possibility?
